Statement of Faith
Providence Hill Academy is a Christ-centered educational institution dedicated to equipping students with academic excellence and biblical truth. Our foundation is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. At the heart of our school is a deep commitment to teaching children the truth of God’s Word. We believe the Bible is not just a subject—it is the foundation for all of life and learning. We aim to cultivate hearts and minds that love Scripture, apply it faithfully, and recognize the authority of God in every area of life.
We believe in one living and true God, eternally existing in three distinct persons -Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-coequal in power, glory, and essence, yet distinct in role and relationship. This triune God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Lord of all that exists, holy in nature, perfect in judgment, and unchanging in character. God the Father is the source of all that exists, who orders and sustains His creation according to His perfect will. He is the initiator of salvation and the one to whom all creation is subject.
God the Son, Jesus Christ, is eternally begotten, not made, fully God and fully man. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death on the cross, and rose bodily from the grave. He ascended into heaven, where He intercedes for His people and reigns until His return in power and glory. Through Christ alone is salvation offered, by grace through faith. God the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son and is equal in deity and glory. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates the hearts of believers, and indwells, sanctifies, empowers, and guides them in truth. The Spirit glorifies Christ and seals believers until the day of redemption.
We affirm that the doctrine of the Trinity is foundational to the Christian faith. While the full mystery of God’s triune nature transcends human comprehension, it is clearly revealed in Scripture and essential for rightly knowing, worshiping, and serving the one true God.
1. The Scriptures
We affirm that the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Pete 20-21). It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice, sufficient for teaching, correction, and instruction in righteousness.
2. The Triune God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). Each Person of the Godhead is fully and equally God, distinct in function but one in essence.
3. The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man (John 1:1, 14; Colossians 2:9). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and accomplished our redemption through His substitutionary death on the cross (Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:24). He bodily rose from the grave, ascended into heaven, and now intercedes for believers (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 7:25).
4. The Sinfulness of Man
We affirm that all humanity is born in sin, utterly depraved, and incapable of pleasing God apart from His grace (Romans 3:10-23; Ephesians 2:1-3). Because of Adam’s fall, all people inherit a sin nature and are in need of salvation through Christ alone.
5. Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). It is not the result of human effort or good works but is a sovereign work of God. Those who repent and believe in Christ are justified, adopted, and eternally secure (John 10:27-29; Romans 8:1, 30).
6. The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, sanctifies, and empowers believers for godly living and service (John 14:16-17; Titus 3:5). He convicts the world of sin and leads believers into all truth (John 16:8-13).
7. The Church
We affirm that the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all true believers (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). The local church is the visible expression of this body and is called to worship, teach the Word, observe the ordinances, and proclaim the gospel (Acts 2:42-47; Matthew 28:18-20).
8. Christian Living
We believe that all Christians are called to live holy lives, set apart for the glory of God (1 Peter 1:15-16; Romans 12:1-2). This includes obedience to Scripture, rejection of worldliness, and faithfulness in proclaiming the gospel. Marriage is ordained by God as the union of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6).
9. The Return of Christ and Final Judgment
We believe in the personal, visible, and imminent return of Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16). He will judge the living and the dead, rewarding believers and condemning the unrepentant to eternal punishment (Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:11-15).
10. The Mission of the School
In light of these truths, Providence Hill Academy is committed to prepare students to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30) and to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
Agreement
All faculty, staff, and board members of Providence Hill Academy affirm this Statement of Faith and commit to upholding its doctrinal convictions in teaching, discipline, and example. While we welcome students from diverse backgrounds, we require families to respect the biblical values upon which this school stands.
Our mission is to help students know God, understand His Word, and walk in His ways, equipping them to stand firm in truth and live with boldness, humility, and grace.
Our Biblical View of Science
At our school, we believe that all truth is God’s truth, and that includes the study of science. As part of our statement of faith, we affirm that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God, and therefore, we interpret the natural world through the lens of Scripture-not the other way around.
We believe that God is the Creator of all things, and we teach a literal six-day creation as described in Genesis 1. Science is not in conflict with the Bible; it is a tool that reveals the beauty, order, and intelligence of God’s design. Our goal in teaching science is not just to explore facts, but to stir awe, worship, and biblical thinking in students as they study God’s world.
We encourage students to observe, question, experiment, and think critically-while always holding God’s Word as the final authority. In an age where scientific claims often challenge biblical truth, we want to raise students who can discern truth from error, confidently hold to a biblical worldview, and engage with culture from a place of conviction and clarity.
Our science curriculum affirms:
- The sovereignty and design of God in creation.
- The fallenness of the world through sin, which impacts scientific observation.
- The purpose of science as a means to glorify God, not explain Him away.
- The rejection of Darwinian evolution and any worldview that contradicts Scripture.
- The call to steward creation wisely as an act of worship and obedience.
In all of this, we aim to help children see that science doesn’t exist apart from God— it exists because of Him, and it is a joyful privilege to study His handiwork.
